Ich Bin Ein New Yorker

Anna Steegmann, now an English-language novelist living legally in New York City, writes about what it was like to be an illegal German immigrant, struggling with the language and life in the city.
It’s been a grand time catching up on your blog and reading interesting linked articles. I am looking forward to more “a way with words” episodes.

I was pleased to see your reference to a piece by Anna Steegmann from The New York Times. The full piece located at: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/09/nyregion/thecity/09germ.html?scp=1&sq=steegmann
is worth a read. This talented writer also has an excellent blog at:

Roman, you are a friend of Anna’s? Partner? Husband?

Hi Grant - I’m proud to report that Anna is my wife.
She began writing last year and writes in both German and English.
