Diekus

Saw these on the street last week: “diekus,” kind of cut-and-paste poems made from the names on tombstones. There were several new ones; the ones on Flickr are from December.

This Nick Beef guy is a genius!  And what a powerful series of ‘diekus’ on Flickr.

Are there any other diekus ‘out there’?

Is Nick Beef’s work still there—or is it already gone?

This temporary art reminds me of another New York street artist—Keith Haring—who did a bunch of work in chalk.  It was terrific stuff, but I heard that it would only stay up for a few days/weeks until it was erased.  I got to see it when I visited there in the early 1980s.
