1995 James F. McCarty Cleveland Plain Dealer (Ohio) (Apr. 30) “The Self-Destruction of David Allen” p. 8: Allen was “running with a crowd doing a lot of drugs”: marijuana, crack, PCP and a potent concoction called “Wet,” which is marijuana laced with formaldehyde. 2002 Lewis Goldfrank, et al. Goldfrank’s Toxicologic Emergencies (Apr. 26) p. 1036: PCP was infrequently incorporated into marijuana cigarettes….These are being sold on the street under varying names such as “Illy” in Connectivut, “Hydro” in New York City, “Dip” in New Jersey, “Wet” in Philadelphia, and “Fry” in Texas. The cigarettes are treated with “embalming fluid,” allegedly to enhance the drug’s euphoric effects. Embalming fluid, which contains formalin (formaldehyde in methanol), is used as a medium to ease a uniform distribution of PCP in these cigarettes. 2004 David Hunt Daily Courier (Connellsville, Penn.) (May 7) “Fayette County: Edwards claims police coerced confession”: According to court documents, Edwards and Larry Sr. were locked in a dispute over a drug called “wet,” the slang term for a mixture of PCP and formaldehyde. It is used to lace marijuana or other smoking materials to enhance the high they produce.
