NBC had that show from October 1963 through September 1965 for 39 episodes. The show was done with marionettes and a process called “Supermarionation.” 2004 Alan Niester Globe and Mail (Toronto, Can.) (July 30) “Thunderbirds are a no-go” p. R9: A cheesy puppet show that was filmed in what was laughingly referred to as “supermarionation,” the show has mysteriously become something of a cult hit. Despite the fact that the special effects amounted largely to giant puffballs of smoke and cardboard rockets hung from string, the show has managed to remain in syndication these last forty years.
