Dictionary definition of “motarded”

motarded

adj. excessively stupid; in the military, enthusiastic to the point of stupidity. Subjects: , ,
Editorial Note: Although there’s no shortage of jokes, puns, and misunderstandings about its similarity to “retarded,” a different “motarded” comes from motocross racing, in which a certain kind of motorbiking is known as a Super Motard, French for “super biker.” Andrew Trevitt has a good explanation of the sport in Sport Rider magazine. Motorbikes modified for professional racing but ridden on streets by amateurs are sometimes called “motarded.” Etymological Note: Perhaps from moron(ic), motivated, or more + retarded.

His men grumbled—enlisted men call officers like Pantano “motarded"—motivated to the point of retardation. 2005 [nonlethal] Student Doctor Network Forums (Oct. 29) “Navy Medicine—part 2”: On one hand it is refreshing to see such motivation, and remembering my own “motarded-ness” when I was a brand new jarhead, freshmeat to my squadleaders… But on the other hand, it’s painfully disturbing to see someone so blinded by the reality that although we do have the best military around, it is FAR from perfect, and horribly mismanaged, mishandled, misinformed. 2006 [usm2b] Military Photos (Oct. 10) “Army capitalism”: I saw it while waiting in line in the campus bookstore. I thought to myself, what jackass company is trying to be motarded. Apparently it’s actually the Army. They are freaking wasting money making games and snacks.
Reader comments:
I like this word, but I think it could be expanded to apply to all the motarded drivers on the road.
