Etymological Note: From Hindi and Urdu, variously transcribed as (Khadi | Kade | Khade | Kheray | Khari) (Lun | Lund | Land) (Par | Pe | Par) (Dhokha | Dhoka), meaning, roughly, “trick or betrayal of an erect penis.”
Citations: 1992 Nadeem Jamali Usenet: soc.culture.pakistan (May 15) “Re: population explosion”: The problem with delibrately arousing one sexually and then refusing to have sex (what a friend of mine used to refer to as KLPD) is not like showing $1000 bills. There is an emotional cycle that is started in the process, that should normally end in an intercourse. 1993 Usenet: soc.culture.indian (July 28) “KLPD”: KLPD: All the net-langots on the net, standing and cheering the imminent demise of PVNR (the government I mean) and the imminent Snagh-Parivar-Ram-Rajya. A sad case of deflation. Perhaps one could call it Khade lang(ot) per Dhoka? eh? 1995 [Devadatta Mukutmoni] Usenet: rec.sport.cricket (Apr. 3) “Re: 1st test WI AUS”: Judging from the WIndies record, the Australian fans shouldn’t be celebrating yet. Otherwise, they will be setting themselves up for one long, big and painful KLPD. 1999 Vandana Aggarwal JaaL (India) (Mar. 1) “Are Indian Women Frigid?”: “This guy Raju rescues this woman from a sadistic husband, restores her confidence in her art, makes her a star…and what does he get in return? Ruin and death. That’s the classic Indian woman, frigid and prude. It was the ultimate example of KLPD.” “What’s KLPD?” “Khari L.…Par Dhoka!” “What’s L….?”…(I couldn’t see the connection. That’s why I’m convinced that the brains of the Indian males lie mostly in their L…s.) 2000 [Gandu] Usenet: rec.arts.movies.local.indian (Aug. 6) “Review of Refugee from Gandmasti.Com + a request…”: He falls in luv with Karona and goes Crowna….Crowna…Crowna till he realises it is a major one way traffic for him. Crowna has given him KLD (Khade L*nd pe Dhoka). 2000 Usenet: soc.culture.indian (Nov. 18) “Re: Gore Gored: Judge Terry Lewis Supports Harris”: “What is KLPD?” “Kade lund pe dhokha. It was slang in IITK—dunno if it wsa more universal.” 2000 Amit Goel Amit Goel (India) (Dec.) “The Big Island, Hawaii”: Kahuna Falls were a major KLPD! *2002 B.R. Gurunandan Cybersteering.com (India) (Apr. 16) “Zen & the info for Bullet maintenance: Part 2”: I hate a KLPD as much as you do, but heck, nothing worthwhile comes in an instant.…So let us go the systematic route, by listing some more helpful ideas & things before we get oil on our hands.…Whoever says India does not protect Intellectual Property, curb piracy, etc must try to get the workshop manual or a spare copy of the owner’s manual!…When you finally manage to get it, THEN you know what a KLPD REALLY is!…They haven’t been seriously updated in donkey’s years, they are often misleading. 2002 Usenet: soc.culture.indian.delh (July 2) “Re: query—klpd means what?”: One may say “klpd ho gaya” when one is frustrated in reaching a much anticipated and sought after goal. For instance, you wanted desperately to go see a certain show and you had even found tickets to the best seats in the house—only due to some problem, the show is cancelled at the last moment. It could be “a major klpd” as you may explain to your friend later. 2002 Vikas Kamat Kamat’s Potpourri (Nov. 11) “Monsoon Wedding, Good”: When Aditi’s brother whispers “KLPD.” This was quite a popular slang during my time. The movie translated KLPD as “betrayal of the erect penis,” but the slang has a far more hilarious connotation. BTW, in my time, there was even more hilarious slang KLPR (khade lund pe Rakhi). *2005 [Vikram] DesiFantasy.com (India) (Mar. 4) “A long long time ago”: We reached the climax, and I that its time and held by the hips while she was bent and pressed fully into her arse and grabbed her tits. She reacted and said stop. I will complain etc—I stopped, and she left with a remark “bathroom mein maza kar lena.” I said that what a klpd, and said maybe I went too far.
