Quotation: Two men in South Africa recognized that the average woman in rural Africa has to walk three miles to get clean water. And they created something called “play pumps,” which is a hydraulic system, in which they put a well in rural villages. On top of the well, they put a merry-go-round for the children to turn and play on. Then on top of that they put a holding tank for the water, and they put advertisements that help support the funding to keep the pump going.
